Improving Health Will Make Quitting Easier

Of course it is always advisable to quit smoking.  Ceasing the use of tobacco is the number one thing anyone can do to improve health.  However, there are many ways that you can become healthier first, that will also make it easier for you to quit smoking later.  Having a healthy diet, taking good vitamins and supplements, regular exercise, quality sleep, and detoxification are all important for preventing disease, reducing stress, and stimulating your body's own natural cleansing process, will all help drastically improve your health.

Proper Nutrition

There is has been a lot of research into raw foods for quitting smoking.  Raw foods can actually change the perceived pleasure from smoking.  Studies have shown that enzymes in healthy raw foods such as fruits and vegetables bind with compounds left in the mouth after smoking and produce an unpleasant aftertaste that the brain may learn to associate with tobacco.

This is very important because quitting smoking is much more than the addiction to nicotine, and there is a large sensory perceptions of smoking that is generally pleasant, but can change to be perceived as unpleasant.  Also, keeping your hands and mouth busy with consuming raw foods, like carrots, celery, berries, and many other options, will provide nutrients and help your body flush toxins from smoking.

Supplements

Thankfully, it is possible to at least neutralize some of the negative health effects through proper nutrition, and even reverse some of the damage caused by smoking.  Vitamins A, C, D, and E, are found in fruits and vegetables, and should also be heavily supplemented to help improve your body's response to damaged cells.  Diseases happens when your body is not properly repairing damaged tissues, or is not able to keep up with the damage being done.

There are many excellent multivitamins and herbal supplements that can help you improve your health, and begin to feel better.  Health supplements will also make it easier to quit smoking when you are ready.  Supplements will also be part of a good smoking cessation plan to help improve health after quitting. A high quality multivitamin is a good start.

Exercise

Exercise is so important for your health.  It helps lower blood pressure and cholesterol, improve mood, increase energy and control weight, and help you sleep better at night.  Exercise also helps you quit smoking by improving blood flow and causing a release of the pleasure hormone dopamine.  Dopamine is the same chemical that nicotine triggers the release of, and during withdrawal, your levels of dopamine drop, leading to feelings of depression.  Just 20 minutes of exercise will make your brain start releasing dopamine again, and help you feel better.

Detoxification

The body's own detoxing organs, liver, kidneys, and colon, are excellent at collecting and removing waste and toxins from your body.  These organs also need proper nutritional support to work properly, because they are working overtime.  It is important to drink lots of water, and have a healthy raw food diet to support these cleaning organs. Removing toxins is helpful for quitting smoking because the sooner nicotine and other toxins are completely out of the system, the sooner your feelings of withdrawal will subside.  Getting the toxins out quicker also prevents further damage to cells.  Also, removing toxins helps you feel healthier, which provides positive feedback for quitting smoking.

Many of the health conditions that smokers have due an overall lack of health consciousness, not just the cigarette smoking.  People who smoke tend to be less healthy in general.  They probably don't eat as well, exercise, take vitamins, and get regular sleep.  A healthy diet and lifestyle, proper sleep, and exercise, will help improve healthy and make it easier to quit smoking.  You can do all of these things now to start improving your health, and eventually giving up smoking will seem easy!
