Nowadays you have to be so careful what you take because anyone can make a supplement and put a label on it.  One of the main reasons I like ImmuMAX Immunity Support Supplement is because it didn’t contain any harmful ingredients.  You’d be surprise what you find in some of these over-the-counter products.  However, this isn’t the case with ImmuMAX Immunity Support Supplement. All the ingredients in their supplement are natural.  I took this product while I had the flu and a sinus infection and I noticed that I improved a lot faster than I normally did when I had the flu in the past.  I am currently still using it and I feel it has helped my allergies too.  I haven’t had to use my allergy medicine since I been using ImmuMAX on a daily basis.

Incorporating Exercise Into Our Lives Exercise has great importance. The best exercise program is one that includes aerobic activity for a period of twenty to thirty minutes on a daily or every-other-day basis. There are many benefits of exercise, which outweigh the risks.

These include:
  • Improved heart
  • Improved breathing actions
  • Increase in muscular strength and endurance
  • Buildup of lean body mass
  • Decrease in body fat.
  • The range of motion and the flexibility of the arms and legs are improved.
  • Triglycerides and cholesterol are lowered
  • High-density lipoproteins (HDLs—the "good guys") are increased, while low-density lipoproteins (LDLs—the "bad guys") are decreased.
  • Blood-pressure control is improved
  • Depression is decreased
  • The pain threshold is increased
  • Both your self-image and self-esteem are improved
  • Most important, a sense of well-being is achieved and enhanced
Good aerobic exercises are:
  • Swimming
  • Walking
  • Rowing
  • Biking
  • Dancing
  • Skiing
Skiing is the most effective of all aerobic exercises. Notice that jogging and other high-impact or "severe" aerobics have not been placed on this list.

For an exercise to be aerobic, the heart rate must be at least 50 percent above the resting heart rate. The ceiling level is 75 to 80 percent. The ideal range is between 50 and 75 percent. (Various books give different figures. The common target range recommended is from 60 to 80 percent.) To determine your target zone or ideal range, first subtract your age from 220. Then multiply this number by 60 percent or another number, depending on a recommendation by your health care professional to obtain your threshold level (the lower number of the range of beats per minute that you should aim for during your exercise period).

Multiplying the same number by 80 percent will give you your ceiling level. You should aim to maintain your heart rate in this "ideal" range for twenty to thirty minutes To feel your heartbeat, place your second and third fingers on the inner side of your wrist or on your neck about three inches below the bottom of your ear. Since you are unable to determine your heart rate every minute unless you have a monitor in place, you can gain a rough estimate of how hard you are exercising by using the "Borg Scale of Perceived Exertion."

The scale goes from six to twenty. Less than six means sleep or a resting state, while twenty means activity to the point of fatigue. Seven is very, very light activity, nine is light, and eleven is somewhat light. Nineteen is very, very hard, seventeen is very hard, fifteen is hard, and thirteen is somewhat hard. You would try to exercise in the range of twelve to sixteen, or the aerobic-intensity level.

Anaerobic Exercises

Activities such as weight lifting, gymnastics, and some other sports-related activities such as wrestling are isokinetic exercises. This type of exercise uses glycogen or stored glucose as the major source of fuel. Activities of this type are intermittent, of short duration, and usually quite intense. These exercises activities are called anaerobic exercise activities.   This is when the person does not increase oxygen intake much over usual levels, unlike in aerobic exercise.

Anaerobic activities do not offer as much benefit to the person who has diabetes, and in fact, they may raise the blood pressure to the point of putting the body at risk.

Walking

Walking is one of the healthiest exercises you can do that will improve and maintain your body’s health.  Walking can make us feel better and improve how we feel.   Anytime you open any health magazine you always can bet that there is an article explaining the thousands of positive benefits that you can receive by incorporating walking into your daily schedule.  Health experts have categorized walking as the best exercise that you can do and receive the quickest results.  Research has shown that you feel an improvement in your body’s health both mentally and physically immediately—often within 30 minutes!  With that kind of discovery, it is time to get up and go for a walk! Make walking your first priority.  You cannot use the excuse that I am not in shape to walk because I have seen eighty year olds walking daily in my neighborhood!

How can walking help you and your family?

Be a mentor! Put your kids on the right track by showing them how great walking can be for you.  Walking can show your kids healthy ways to manage stress. Your kids likely can tell when you are feeling overwhelmed or tense. How you deal with those feelings sends them a powerful message. Maybe you have your own exercise you like to do on a regular basis.  That’s great! Just try incorporating walking to your current exercise program! Walking is one of the healthiest activities.   Walking is great for your health. It releases stress and if you are interested in losing weight then look no further walking is one of the best exercises you can do for losing weight.  You can even use this time to bond with your child and get to know them better.  It is a great exercise for bonding because you can talk to each other while you exercise.   You cannot hold a conversation with aerobics, but you can with walking! Try walking for 30 minutes each day. You will notice the positive changes. When others in your family see how you use walking as a tool to manage stress, improve your health and lose weight, they are more likely to use it themselves.

Why Go Vegetarian?


People are drawn to vegetarianism by all sorts of motives. Some of us want to live longer, healthier lives or do our part to reduce pollution. Others have made the switch because we want to preserve Earth’’s natural resources or because we’’ve always loved animals and are ethically opposed to eating them.

Thanks to an abundance of scientific research that demonstrates the health and environmental benefits of a plant-based diet, even the federal government recommends that we consume most of our calories from grain products, vegetables and fruits. And no wonder: An estimated 70 percent of all diseases, including one-third of all cancers, are related to diet. A vegetarian diet reduces the risk for chronic degenerative diseases such as obesity, coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and certain types of cancer including colon, breast, prostate, stomach, lung and esophageal cancer.

Why go veg? Chew on these reasons:

You’ll ward off disease. Vegetarian diets are more healthful than the average American diet, particularly in preventing, treating or reversing heart disease and reducing the risk of cancer. A low-fat vegetarian diet is the single most effective way to stop the progression of coronary artery disease or prevent it entirely. Cardiovascular disease kills 1 million Americans annually and is the leading cause of death in the United States. But the mortality rate for cardiovascular disease is lower in vegetarians than in nonvegetarians, says Joel Fuhrman, MD, author of Eat to Live: The Revolutionary Formula for Fast and Sustained Weight Loss. A vegetarian diet is inherently healthful because vegetarians consume no animal fat and less cholesterol and instead consume more fiber and more antioxidant-rich produce—another great reason to listen to Mom and eat your veggies!

You’ll keep your weight down. The standard American diet—high in saturated fats and processed foods and low in plant-based foods and complex carbohydrates—is making us fat and killing us slowly. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and a division of the CDC, the National Center for Health Statistics, 64 percent of adults and 15 percent of children aged 6 to 19 are overweight and are at risk of weight-related ailments including heart disease, stroke and diabetes. A study conducted from 1986 to 1992 by Dean Ornish, MD, president and director of the Preventive Medicine Research Institute in Sausalito, California, found that overweight people who followed a low-fat, vegetarian diet lost an average of 24 pounds in the first year and kept off that weight 5 years later. They lost the weight without counting calories or carbs and without measuring portions or feeling hungry.

You’ll live longer. If you switch from the standard American diet to a vegetarian diet, you can add about 13 healthy years to your life, says Michael F. Roizen, MD, author of The RealAge Diet: Make Yourself Younger with What You Eat. ”People who consume saturated, four-legged fat have a shorter life span and more disability at the end of their lives. Animal products clog your arteries, zap your energy and slow down your immune system. Meat eaters also experience accelerated cognitive and sexual dysfunction at a younger age.”

Want more proof of longevity? Residents of Okinawa, Japan, have the longest life expectancy of any Japanese and likely the longest life expectancy of anyone in the world, according to a 30-year study of more than 600 Okinawan centenarians. Their secret: a low-calorie diet of unrefined complex carbohydrates, fiber-rich fruits and vegetables, and soy.

You’ll build strong bones. When there isn’’t enough calcium in the bloodstream, our bodies will leach it from existing bone. The metabolic result is that our skeletons will become porous and lose strength over time. Most health care practitioners recommend that we increase our intake of calcium the way nature intended— through foods. Foods also supply other nutrients such as phosphorus, magnesium and vitamin D that are necessary for the body to absorb and use calcium.

People who are mildly lactose-intolerant can often enjoy small amounts of dairy products such as yogurt, cheese and lactose-free milk. But if you avoid dairy altogether, you can still get a healthful dose of calcium from dry beans, tofu, soymilk and dark green vegetables such as broccoli, kale, collards and turnip greens.

You’ll reduce your risk of food-borne illnesses. The CDC reports that food-borne illnesses of all kinds account for 76 million illnesses a year, resulting in 325,000 hospitalizations and 5,000 deaths in the United States. According to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), foods rich in protein such as meat, poultry, fish and seafood are frequently involved in food-borne illness outbreaks.

You’ll ease the symptoms of menopause. Many foods contain nutrients beneficial to perimenopausal and menopausal women. Certain foods are rich in phytoestrogens, the plant-based chemical compounds that mimic the behavior of estrogen. Since phytoestrogens can increase and decrease estrogen and progesterone levels, maintaining a balance of them in your diet helps ensure a more comfortable passage through menopause. Soy is by far the most abundant natural source of phytoestrogens, but these compounds also can be found in hundreds of other foods such as apples, beets, cherries, dates, garlic, olives, plums, raspberries, squash and yams. Because menopause is also associated with weight gain and a slowed metabolism, a low-fat, high-fiber vegetarian diet can help ward off extra pounds.

Roizen, MD, says in The RealAge Diet. Too much fat in your bloodstream means that arteries won’t open properly and that your muscles won’t get enough oxygen. The result? You feel zapped. Balanced vegetarian diets are naturally free of cholesterol-laden, artery-clogging animal products that physically slow us down and keep us hitting the snooze button morning after morning. And because whole grains, legumes, fruits and vegetables are so high in complex carbohydrates, they supply the body with plenty of energizing fuel.

You’ll be more ‘regular.’ Eating a lot of vegetables necessarily means consuming more fiber, which pushes waste out of the body. Meat contains no fiber. People who eat lower on the food chain tend to have fewer instances of constipation, hemorrhoids and diverticulitis.

You’ll help reduce pollution. Some people become vegetarians after realizing the devastation that the meat industry is having on the environment. According to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), chemical and animal waste runoff from factory farms is responsible for more than 173,000 miles of polluted rivers and streams. Runoff from farmlands is one of the greatest threats to water quality today. Agricultural activities that cause pollution include confined animal facilities, plowing, pesticide spraying, irrigation, fertilizing and harvesting.

You’ll avoid toxic chemicals. The EPA estimates that nearly 95 percent of the pesticide residue in the typical American diet comes from meat, fish and dairy products. Fish, in particular, contain carcinogens (PCBs, DDT) and heavy metals (mercury, arsenic, lead, cadmium) that can’t be removed through cooking or freezing. Meat and dairy products can also be laced with steroids and hormones, so be sure to read the labels on the dairy products you purchase.

You’ll help reduce famine. About 70 percent of all grain produced in the United States is fed to animals raised for slaughter. The 7 billion livestock animals in the United States consume five times as much grain as is consumed directly by the American population. “If all the grain currently fed to livestock were consumed directly by people, the number of people who could be fed would be nearly 800 million,” says David Pimentel, professor of ecology at Cornell University. If the grain were exported, it would boost the US trade balance by $80 billion a year.

You’ll spare animals. Many vegetarians give up meat because of their concern for animals. Ten billion animals are slaughtered for human consumption each year. And, unlike the farms of yesteryear where animals roamed freely, today most animals are factory farmed—crammed into cages where they can barely move and fed a diet tainted with pesticides and antibiotics. These animals spend their entire lives in crates or stalls so small that they can’t even turn around. Farmed animals are not protected from cruelty under the law—in fact, the majority of state anticruelty laws specifically exempt farm animals from basic humane protection.

You’ll save money. Meat accounts for 10 percent of Americans’ food spending. Eating vegetables, grains and fruits in place of the 200 pounds of beef, chicken and fish each nonvegetarian eats annually would cut individual food bills by an average of $4,000 a year.

Your dinner plate will be full of color. Disease-fighting phytochemicals give fruits and vegetables their rich, varied hues. They come in two main classes: carotenoids and anthocyanins. All rich yellow and orange fruits and vegetables—carrots, oranges, sweet potatoes, mangoes, pumpkins, corn—�owe their color to carotenoids. Leafy green vegetables also are rich in carotenoids but get their green color from chlorophyll. Red, blue and purple fruits and vegetables—plums, cherries, red bell peppers—contain anthocyanins. Cooking by color is a good way to ensure you’re eating a variety of naturally occurring substances that boost immunity and prevent a range of illnesses.

It’s almost effortless these days to find great-tasting and good-for-you vegetarian foods, whether you’’re strolling the aisles of your local supermarket or walking down the street at lunchtime. Does Breast Size Really Matter?


My friend Susan and I are about as different as two BFFs can be. She is a plain Jane who is comfortable in her body, doesn’t wear a lot of makeup and only purchased a few sleek, sexy blouses once—because I dragged her to the store for her birthday and told her it was on me—while I married, had three kids and made it must to voyage overseas at least twice a year, she’s never been married, wears traditional plain outfits, while I live for the bling. Oh, and Susan could burst out of a DD bra while I barely fill out a B-cup. 
Meanwhile, Susan and I have a mutual friend, Jennifer, who swears that she couldn’t tell what breast size I am for the life of her. 
Most people believe what it all comes down to is breast size matters differently to each person.  While one woman may not care what breast size they are another person may care a lot.

Breast size plays a tremendous impact on a woman’s self-esteem.  Almost every woman has had time in their life where they got out of bed, looked in the mirror and were dissatisfied with what they saw.  Either their breasts were too small, too average, too big or uneven.  Either way, if you’re unsatisfied with your breast size, then it’s going to reflect on your self-image and lower your self-esteem.   Being dissatisfied with your breast size can also affect a woman’s mental health. According to a recent study published in the journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, asymmetrical (uneven) or macromastia (abnormally large) breasts can lead to mental health problems, from lower self-esteem to eating disorders. So yes, breast size does matter. 
A woman’s left breast is never the same as their right breast.  Both breasts often vary in size and shape, according to Healthy Women. It’s common for young women to have different-sized breasts or nipples, especially as they develop during puberty. This condition is known as breast asymmetry and affects more than half of all women. Dr. Brian I. Labow, lead author of the study and ASPS Member Surgeon of Boston Children’s Hospital, believes breast asymmetry is more than just a “cosmetic issue” and that it can have adverse psychological and emotional effects on women. 
In one study that was performed by Dr. Brian I. Labow, they concluded that there was an adverse impact on women with asymmetrical breasts, extra-large breasts, and those with a relatively mild difference in breast size. It was discovered that many young women who had different size breasts suffered from mental and physical health issues compared to those with “normal” breasts. They also suffered from lower self-esteem.  Asymmetrical breasts were also linked with borderline issues in social functioning, eating behaviors, and attitudes. 
“According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons’ latest statistics, there has been a 70 percent increase in breast lifts and a 37 percent growth in breast augmentation since 2000. Interventions and surgery could make the difference between poorer self-image and confidence for women with breast asymmetry says Dr. Diane Gibby.” 

What Women Need to Know
“Crossing the right breast size,” the number one concern of women getting augmentations.
 All women come from all different walks of life and carry their own individual needs.  Whether women are having cosmetic breast surgery (augmentation, lift or reduction) or reconstructive surgery after a mastectomy, their goals are similar: They want to look feminine, natural and proportional. They want their clothes to fit better. 
There is no substitute for accurate measurements. Your surgeon must determine how broad your chest is, the base width of your breasts and the distance between your breasts. 
Another important factor is skin laxity or looseness. You must have enough tissue to cover the breast implant. It is also important to make sure your breasts are even (symmetrical). 
Talk to your surgeon about your preferences regarding breast size. Bring in pictures of breasts that you find appealing. Tell your surgeon what you like about these breasts, and be as specific as possible. This discussion will help your surgeon get an accurate idea of what you want out of your breast enhancement surgery, and more importantly, whether it is feasible.

Eczema and Allergies - Ways to Conquer Your Eczema


Some 30 million people deal with the dry, itchy, rashy patches caused by eczema—and for many, the root cause is an unknown food allergy, says Cates. The connection: "When you encounter an allergen, your body's immune response is amped up, causing inflammation," she says. This process leads to the release of histamines (chemical neurotransmitters) throughout body tissues, which can lead to eczema eruptions.

If you have eczema, Cates suggests keeping a food dairy to pinpoint sensitivities. "The biggest offenders are dairy, gluten, soy, and peanuts," she says. "Cow's milk is probably the most common one." If you have a hunch certain foods may be a problem but you can't figure out which, see an allergist for testing.

A red, itchy rash will often get you a diagnosis of contact dermatitis, an allergic reaction that occurs when an irritant—a new laundry detergent, a cleaning product—touches your skin. But sometimes those bumps can indicate something more serious: undiagnosed celiac disease, an autoimmune condition in which ingesting gluten damages the small intestine, says Peterson.


Dermatitis herpetiformis, a stinging, blistering rash that tends to show up on knees, buttocks, elbows, lower back, and scalp, affects 15 to 25% of celiac sufferers—even those with no digestive symptoms. Here's what's going on: If you have celiac disease and ingest gluten, your immune system responds by releasing a defensive antibody called immoglobulin A (IgA) into the bloodstream. IgA can pool in blood vessels under the skin, causing a rash. The short-term fix usually includes the sulfur-based antibiotic dapsone to stop the itch, but the only long-term solution is a gluten-free diet—one free of grains such as wheat, barley, rye, and triticale, says Peterson. (These delicious, clean packaged foods are all gluten-free.) If you suspect celiac is your issue, make an appointment with a gastroenterologist, who can diagnose the condition through an endoscopy and blood work.

Alternative Ways to Beat Pain

 Massage

What it’s good for: Back pain, osteoarthritis, tension headaches, fibromyalgia, neck pain, and surgery-related discomfort.

What the experts say: Sure, massages feel great, but they provide much more than a few “ahhhs” for people with back pain. “Massage therapy has been shown to boost levels of endorphins and serotonin—the body’s natural painkillers and mood regulators—and to reduce stress hormone levels,” says Dr. Weil. Massage therapy may also work at a molecular level, helping to turn on and off genes associated with inflammation, according to a study in Science Translational Medicine.

It’s showing promise for post-operation patients, as well. “We’ve conducted a number of studies on massage as a treatment for pain following surgery,” says Brent Bauer, MD, director of the Mayo Clinic’s Complementary and Integrative Medicine Program. “In each of these studies, we have been able to demonstrate statistically significant reductions in pain, along with significant reductions in anxiety.” The results have been so compelling, he says, that massage therapy is now routinely available to all patients undergoing surgery at the Mayo Clinic.

Rosacea and Hormones


Rosacea (which is more common in women than men, by the way) is typically marked by broken capillaries, facial flushing, and pimples. It can show up well into adulthood, even if you've never had it before, thanks to the hormonal changes you go through as you inch toward menopause.
"We've noticed that later-in-life rosacea tends to show up right around the same time our hormone levels begin to fluctuate—between the ages of 35 and 51," says Cates.

To help regulate hormones, Cates suggests eating foods that promote liver detoxification: 
cruciferous veggies, onions, garlic, and beets. "When we improve liver detoxification pathways, we can improve hormone metabolism, which then helps balance what might be out of whack." (This 12-day liver detox can also help you drop 13 pounds in less than 2 weeks.)

Stress hormones such as cortisol also play a role in inducing redness. "Stress is a major trigger for those with rosacea," Cates says. Managing stress with relaxation techniques like meditation, journaling, and yoga can help, she says. Proof? A recent survey from the National Rosacea Society found that two-thirds of rosacea sufferers were able to decrease the frequency of flare-ups simply by minimizing stress.
